This unit covers a course of study of the U.S. Legislative branch in accordance with 12th grade California State Standards.

- Discuss Article I of the Constitution as it relates to the legislative branch, including eligibility for office and lengths of terms of representatives and senators; election to office; the roles of the House and Senate in impeachment proceedings; the role of the vice president; the enumerated legislative powers; and the process by which a bill becomes a law.
- Identify their current representatives in the legislative branch of the national government.

- How are power and responsibility distributed, shared, and limited in the government established by the United States Constitution?

This unit seeks to inform the following specific unit questions:
- Students will know what powers are given to the legislative branch by the Constitution, how representatives are elected and how long they serve and the process in which a bill becomes a law.
